My journey...thus far

Ever since I was a little girl, I've always had an instinct to educate others. So much so that the children who attended my mom's daycare didn't appreciate my "summer school"! Years later, I happen to stumble upon a job working in a church nursery. The woman that hired me suggested that I take my resume over to the school office. Not knowing if they had positions available or not, I handed my resume over hoping for the best. Within a week, I was interview and hired. At first, it was only 2 hours a day, Monday through Friday working with preschool aged children. Slowly, my hours started adding up. After two years working as a preschool aide, lunch recess supervisor, and an after school care aide, there was an opening at work part-time as an aide in the kindergarten classroom. That school year I wore many different hats, but loved every moment of it! After my third school year, I got the opportunity of my lifetime. I was asked to work in kindergarten 5 days a week, all day! The amount of knowledge I received from my mentor teacher is beyond belief. When I become a teacher, I will owe much of my success to this wonderful person, Mrs. U! It was very hard to say goodbye to my students and the staff who had become family. But I'm on to a new journey now, and it's only going to get better from here! In the fall I will start school as a junior at Washington State University to complete my teaching degree!
